Although a commonplace spice found in most homes now, Nutmeg use to be one of the most sought-after spices and was incredibly expensive. An initial harvest of Nutmeg can only occur after about seven years of planting, after which the tree begins to bear fruit all year round. Its full harvesting capacity is maximized only after 10-20 years. The evergreen tree grows 65ft high with greyish-brown bark and small yellow flowers.
