Instructions:
1)
Wearing gloves, cut a small section of soap into
approximately 1 inch cubes (enough for one of the molds, approximately 3 oz).
Be safe as soap is slippery. The melting temperature for M&P soap is
approximately 120°F. Allowing the soap to go over 150°F will likely create
bubbles and of course be difficult to handle. Melt in short bursts of time (3-7
seconds, stirring in between) in the microwave and be sure not to burn. If it
burns (becomes very bubbly and may change colour) it will then be unusable.
Using your candy thermometer, check the temperature. Always be safe when
handling hot soap. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
2) Before
adding Fragrance Oils, please consult the individual fragrances’ listings on
our website for the MSDS/IFRA sheets. These sheets will have important safety
information such as the Flashpoint and maximum percentage for skin amounts.
These sheets can be found under the “MSDS & Documents tab” for each
individual fragrance listing. Keeping flashpoint in mind, add a small amount of
fragrance (1/2 teaspoon roughly for each bar, could be less based on individual
fragrance). Stir slowly and thoroughly. Mixing too vigorously may cause
bubbles.
3) Next,
create your desired colour using your selected dye. You won't need much. Add
slowly, 1 drop at a time to achieve desired colour. Just like with the
fragrance oils, stir thoroughly but slowly to avoid air bubbles.
4) Next, pour
into appropriate mold, spritz with isopropyl alcohol, wash tools and repeat the
process with the remaining molds.
5) Allow for
soaps to set completely and remove from molds. Once removed, add to airtight
container with Aroma Beads to absorb moisture or have the soap on drying racks
in a room with a dehumidifier. Any scenario where additional moisture can be
avoided so that “sweating” doesn’t occur. Enjoy!
