Here is some info I found on the web in regard to essential oils...
About Essential Oils
These oils are extracted from plants shrubs, trees, flowers, seeds, roots, and grasses. These oils contain the essential life force of plants. When these oils are blended, they create some very enjoyable and effective products. These oils should be used in very small amounts.
Remember: Essential oils have a ONE YEAR SHELF LIFE.
When making a candle, add essential oils after soy wax has melted and reached a temperature of 120 degrees. The oils can be added to the melted wax or used on your unscented candles. Add 2-3 drops of essential oil per pound of melted wax.
For using with unscented candles: Thin candles: Place 2-3 drops of essential oil on the top of the candle before lighting. Avoid dripping the oil on the flame or on the wick.
For thick candles, heat a metal ice pick over a heating element. Pierce two holes close to the wick. Insert pick 1/2 of the way into the candle. Turn candle uipside down and shake out any loose wax. Add essential oils. I weigh my candle and add appropriately. (Remember 2-3 drops per pound.)
Holes will appear less noticeable after the candle had been burned.
I offer unscented candles and I add a small vile of essential oil that is tied with raffi along the side of the candle for this purpose. It sells like crazy.
