WOW! What a fantastic idea. I love the smell of my vehicle when I have candles in the back, now I can custom make my airfresheners with my favourite scent! My only question is.... how many oz of FO/DPG does it take to make 1 Paper Air Freshener? I hate to waste. Also, what is the size of the fresheners? ---------- Kimberley *~*~*~*~*~*

Kim I had the same questions. As they are paper I was thinking that it would absorb way to much liquid. My thoughts were possibly spraying them with the solution??

Good Idea Betty.... I just cringe at the thought of pouring out 3 or 4oz of FO though and not needing it or needing more and the silly fresheners end up costing me $5.00 a piece....LOL. Maybe SJ or Don will chime in on this soon. ---------- Kimberley *~*~*~*~*~*

I actually got a sample of one of these from the soap conference. They look similar to the paper type of coaster you get in a pub. e.g. Kingston Brew Pub or Tir Nan Og. I use these examples cause I know that you are close in area to them. LOL

Also I was thinking that a way to market them would be as a Luggage Freshener. With a hole punched in them they could also be hung in hotel closets, and drawers. I may be heading down that way next week. Might have to stop in. Betty Jane

Hi guys - we are really excited to have these new air fresheners! As an experiment I mixed 50:50 of DPG and our English Lavender fragrance in a spray bottle. I spritzed each size twice. I put the five shapes in our showroom and everyone passing by could smell them...I did however, forget to put one in my car...will do so later and let you know. btw they are about 3-4" in size S.J.

Thanks for the info SJ. Can you give us a rough idea of how much FO/DPG will fragrance how many air fresheners?? Also, how long would that mix last in a spritzer bottle?? ---------- Kimberley *~*~*~*~*~*

I bought some of the air freshener blanks and to dress them up a little bit, I used some graphics that I had, printed them out on iron on transfer paper, then ironed one on to the smoother side of the blank. Sprayed the other side with the dpg/fo solution. They look and smell great. Just an idea Sandy

I made up a 1 ounce bottle with half DPG (0.5oz) and half Fragrance (0.5oz). This has sprayed about 10 air fresheners and I've not even used 5% of it. I added some liquid colour dye to the mix and now my air freshener is lilac coloured. Also, I had the one that I sprayed about 6 times on each side in my car and it was a bit overwhelming. I moved it to the trunk of my car and I still could smell the Lavender all day. A good thing considering all the crazy drivers on the road - it kept me calm...lol...we could be onto something here.

OK, so I attempted the Paper Air Fresheners and have some issues. I mixed .50 oz FO & .50 oz DPG into 2oz spray bottle. Unfortunately the mix came out in a stream instead of a fine mist...is that because of the sprayer or is the solution too thick? Because of the stream the coverage was not good, so now it is very oily to touch, after drying for three days! Any suggestions? ---------- Kimberley *~*~*~*~*~*

I think I am going to pass on these things since everyone is going to make the exact same thing. But I would say that you need alot longer cure time to dry out the dpg.I use alot of dpg as incense is big seller for us.It takes a month to dry the incense.I would imagine it would take as long to dry the air fresheners so that they dont leave a residue.I might suggest trying perfumers alcohol instead of dpg.Good Luck

Kim the info that I got with my sample one says that you can blot them with a tissue or paper towel. It also says to use straight fragrance. I would think that the problem is your sprayer going on to thick. If you make bath bombs it would probably be the same type of fine sprayer. I don't think that this is one that you are going to get in a dollar store. You will probably have to hit Michaels to get what you want.

The spray bottle I am using is from Canwax. I just expected a finer mist. I may use less DPG, although SJ said she only used 6 spritzes so hers must have been more of a mist. ---------- Kimberley *~*~*~*~*~*

I found they dried within a few days. Also, I added some liquid candle dye to the mix and now the air freshener has a pale colour to it. Had to take it out of my car after a while as the Lavender got too strong (with the colour I had sprayed it about 8 times). S.J.

I used to sell scented air freshners almost two years ago now. People loved them plus if you sell your scented goods online they make great little free gifts to give your customers when they order a candle as its a great, fun way to introduce them to a new scent. I personally just used straight FO when I scented my freshners. I brushed it on with a little paint brush. The blank ones i used to buy were brown kraft colour but I think coffee staining white ones would be a great idea too if you are wanting to go for a more prim look. The freshners are great for hanging in your cars, closets, garages, even those smelly gym lockers. I am making the paper air fresheners. I used the iron on transfers for the logo and am using a paint brush to add undiluted fragrance to the rougher side. I bought a hole punch to make a hole to put the string but am really struggling to press it through the thick paper... any ideas on what else I could do ?

What about a grommet making kit available at a fabric shop. You pound this in. They come in several sizes.

No I am not an alcoholic. I was making my air fresheners and like everyone else I found that the solution was to thick. So I thinned it down with vodka. It is a 1 to 1 mixture so one ounce of the fragrance that I had already mixed with DPG and one ounce of vodka. It has been several days now and it seems to be still smelling strongly and not of vodka. Betty Jane
